As you may know, winter sports can sometimes be a dangerous sport so it is important to remember that emergency medical expenses can quickly spiral out of control, if you are unfortunate enough to suffer from injury whilst on a winter sports holiday and need piste rescue. With the InsuraTrip Winter Sports Option, not only do you have emergency medical cover from your InsuraTrip Travel Insurance policy, but you also get physiotherapy cover should it be required upon your return to the United Kingdom.

What is Covered on InsuraTrip Winter Sports Cover Option?

Below is a brief explanation of what is covered on InsuraTrip Travel Insurance with additional the Winter Sports Option. You should, however, always refer to the InsuraTrip Travel Insurance Policy wording for full cover limits, terms, conditions and exclusions.

Upon purchasing the InsuraTrip Winter Sports Option, your policy will cover Winter sports – on piste skiing and snowboarding, for leisure purposes only and not participating in any timed, competitive or off piste/specialist ski/snow board activities.

If you wish to partake in some more extreme winters sports you may be able to get cover these by purchasing one of 8 InsuraTrip optional Activity Packs – make sure that the winter sport or activity you wish to partake in is covered in the Activity Pack you select before making a purchase.

Please note – Winter Sports Cover is available for the entire duration of a Single Trip policy or up to a maximum of 24 days in total in one policy year, on an Annual Multi-trip policy. Winter Sports Cover is not available on Backpacker or Backpacker Plus policies

The table above is only a summary of cover. The sections of “Winter Sports Option” are explained in more detail below however, you should always refer to the policy wording for full Winter Sports Travel Insurance terms, conditions and exclusions.

Winter sports equipment and hire cover – for the cost of repairing ski equipment that you own or have hired that are damaged whilst on your trip, up to the original purchase price of the item or the original purchase price of the item for items that are stolen, permanently lost or destroyed on your trip, less an allowance for age, wear and tear.

There is also cover for the cost to hire ski equipment following the loss, theft or damage of ski equipment insured by us as well the delayed arrival of ski equipment.

Lift pass cover – for the proportionate cost of your unused Lift pass if it is misplaced, lost or stolen on your trip.

Ski pack cover – for the loss of use of your ski pack following your injury or illness during your trip. Ski pack is defined as: Ski hire, ski lift pass and ski school fees.

Piste closure cover – for each 24-hour period you are unable to ski due to the lack of snow which results in the total closure of skiing facilities in the resort. This section is only valid for the period 1st December to 31st of March only.

Avalanche and Landslide Closure cover – for the cost of additional transport and/or accommodation if, because of the prevention of access due to an avalanche, you are unable to reach or leave your pre- booked resort.

Physiotherapy in the UK – for the cost of physiotherapy once you have returned to your home in the UK or Channel Islands following an injury occurring during your trip.
